Release - Symbiotes browser update
For weeks, nothing had left the Bouncyrock caves. The earth lay fallow, the animals were listless, the people. Troubled.
But then, far below, a rumble.
It was subtle, but clearly the machine within was stirring.
Its' a very developer-focused release today, but expect more activity over the coming weeks.
This release updates the embedded Chromium browser used by Symbiotes to v137. Bringing features and security fixes.
Symbiote dev-tools no longer use port 8080 (instead using 9222). To open the dev tools, browse to chrome://inspect in a chromium-based browser
For Linux users: We have tested this under Proton 11 & experimental, so symbiotes should work as expected. Also, browser sandboxing for Symbiotes is now enabled for you (bringing parity with the Windows and Mac versions).
For Mac users: Since shipping on Mac, the browser has been using Rosetta behind the scenes. Apple is on the path to deprecating Rosetta, so we are exploring moving to a WebKit implementation, or an arm64 Chromium if that becomes an option in the plugin we use. Either way, we’ll do our best to keep everything working for you.
Known issue: The button in the symbiotes dev-mode that opens the dev-tools still opens localhost://8080. This will be fixed in the next release.
In completely unrelated news, for those making tooling around tags, we’ve added Creature Synonyms.json to the /TaleSpire_Data/Tags/ folder.
Peace.
