TaleSpire Dev Log 346

Hey again folks,

As planned today, I focussed on saving/loading and getting cone AOE to work correctly.

loading working

That worked.

Next up will be getting pixel picking working with the AOE handles. This will take a bit of work to do efficiently. I can't just reuse the ruler code as that only needed to handle up to sixteen rulers at a time, whereas this should be made to handle thousands efficiently. I know what tools should allow me to do this, so I just need to find the form I like.

I'll keep you posted :)

Awesome!

That looks so good!

My players always use those for pointers, but we always have trouble when we try to use them properly.

I don't know if you already plan on doing something like this, but it would be nice to put names on the AOE stuff. That way you can remember what each AOE meant. So fog cloud can be distinct from a fireball.

Different colors would probably work too. A simple ROYGBV would probably suffice for most scenarios.

Along the lines of what HedgehogMind and JakeEkiss said, textures/colors would be cool. I think the main one that's come up in my games would be Darkness and it would be neat if it was an actual sphere of darkness that obstructed vision. Obviously other effects would be awesome, as well! Either way, very excited for this.

Additionally, there are many line AoE effects that are 5/10 ft in width. Currently, we use the line ruler to attempt to draw that long rectangle and it doesn't work that well all of the time. Any chance we'll be getting those, cubes, and cylinders, too? And any other shapes there may be for effects? Please and thank you.

Looking good! Will you be able to change height when you drag out the secondary point so you could have a cone attack for instance angled at an incline into the air?
