TaleSpire Dev Log 507
Hey again folks,
In the last banter, I was reminded of the fact that the hide plane[0] doesn’t hide hide-volumes, and that that sucks for playability. I promised to get on that so, after the last fixes, I got stuck in.
I hope to have a beta out for that tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes. It does two things.
- The hide plane hides hide-volumes now (dang, what a mouthful)
- If the camera gets very close to a hide-volume it also hides
It’s going into beta first because the rendering was rewritten for better performance, which also meant changing how the tooling was handled. It all looks the same, but any unofficial mods hooking into the old code probably need updating.
In future, I plan to replace the hide-volume implementation with one that covers many of the community requests (like different shapes). But for now, I just needed to make it suck a little less.
If I remember correctly, the next thing on my main todo list is some work on how our systems are architected (it’s a lot of internals stuff from me this year). I’ll double-check that tomorrow in case I’m wrong. After that, it’s UI.
Hope you all are doing well,
Peace.
[0] Actually, it’s a box and not a plane, for reasons I won’t ramble about here :)
